DThe Danube Delta is a monument to the second longest European river when it surrenders to the waters of the Black Sea after a journey of almost 3,000 km. The mosaic of river channels, wetlands, floodplain forests and dunes is a paradise for many species of plants and animals. As you cruise on calm waters through the rich vegetation and look for many animals, especially birds, you will also learn about the history of man and his coexistence with the rich river delta. The traditional Romanian culture is still very much alive here and we will revel in its colors, tastes and sounds.

1. dan: 30. maj 2026

Odhod iz Ljubljane z letalom do Bukarešte. Prevoz z avtobusom do mesta Tulcea ob reki Donavi, namestitev v hotelu, večerja in prenočevanje.

2. dan: 31. maj 2026

From the city of Tulcea, after breakfast, we will first drive to Măcin National Park and visit the park's information center, where the rich geological, zoological and botanical heritage of this area is presented and many national minorities are also represented. With a local guide, we then set out on one of the many hiking trails to the top of the ridge of the Măcin Mountains, learning about many natural history features along the way. From the top of the ridge we will have a wonderful view of the landscape near the Danube Delta.

Hike: about 6 km, 2-3 hours (with break, snack, etc.). In the afternoon you will return to Tulcea, where you will have dinner and some free time to explore the city before spending the night here.

3. dan: 1. junij 2026

In the morning we first visit a very nice museum with aquarium in the city of Tulcea, which presents all the habitats of the Danube in the delta and along the river. In the aquarium we see, among other things, some species of sturgeon that once dominated the river but are now extremely endangered. Then we return to the past for a good two thousand years and visit the remains of the once extremely important Black Sea port of Histria, which also experienced its decline due to the deposition of debris from the Danube. We will then drive to the village of Enisala, where we will walk through the ethnographic open-air museum and learn about village life in the recent past. Nearby are the remains of the once powerful Babadag Castle, built by the Genoese. Inside there is also an interesting natural history exhibition with a description of the habitats in the vicinity. Afterwards, you will drive to Tulcea, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

4. dan : 2. junij 2026

Po spoznavanju okolice delte Donave bo končno napočil čas, ko se bomo podali v njeno osrčje. Ta dan se bomo zadrževali v glavnem severno od stare glavne struge Donave in se podali na opazovanje ptic po zelo ozkih rečnih kanalih in tudi do večjih jezer, ki so se oblikovala med številnimi rečnimi rokavi. Sredi dneva se bomo ustavili v eni od vasi, kjer bomo imeli tradicionalno kosilo pri domačinih. Pot med kanali in jezeri bomo nadaljevali tudi v popoldanskem času, proti večeru pa bomo prišli do vasi Mila 23, kjer bomo imeli večerjo in prenočevanje v tamkajšnjem hotelu.

5. dan: 3. junij 2026

Po zajtrku se bomo iz vasi Crişan odpravili na raziskovanje zavarovanih območij južnega dela delte Donave. Pot nas bo najprej vodila proti jugu do kanala St. Gheorghe, kjer se v Črno morje izliva najjužnejši krak reke Donave. Do sotočja reke in morja se bomo sprehodili iz vasi St. Gheorghe, kjer bomo po ogledu imeli tudi kosilo pri domačinih. Po kosilu se bomo po rečnih kanalih odpeljali do mesteca Sulina, kjer se v Črno morje izliva glavni rokav delte. Po krajšem ogledu se bomo vrnili v vas Mila 23, kjer bo večerja in prenočevanje.

6. dan: 4. junij 2026

Severovzhodno od Crişana in stare glavne struge reke Donave se nahaja gozd Letea, ki se je razvil na nekdanjih morskih sipinah, danes pa je to zavarovano območje z zelo značilno vegetacijo, med katero z nekaj sreče lahko opazujemo tudi divje konje. Do gozda in nazaj se bomo peljali z značilno konjsko vprego, po ogledu pa nas bo pri domačinih čakalo kosilo. Sledila bo vožnja preko jezer, kjer se najpogosteje zadržujejo navadni in kodrasti pelikani in pred prihodom v vas Crişan jih bomo z nekaj sreče videli tudi mi. Večerja in prenočevanje v vasi Mila 23.

7. dan: 5. junij 2026

On the last day of bird watching, we will drive along river channels and lakes north of the main river channel and have the opportunity to learn about the lives of local fishermen and have lunch with one of them. We will continue through river channels and lakes with stops for observation and photography to the town of Tulcea, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

8. dan: 6. junij 2026

Po zajtrku bomo zapustili hotel in se z avtobusom odpeljali do letališča v Bukarešti. Prihod v Ljubljano v večernih urah.
