Day 1: Saturday, 14. 2. 2026
Departure from Slovenia and flight Ljubljana - Istanbul - Abu Dhabi.
Day 2: Sunday, 15. 2. 2026
Morning flight from Abu Dhabi to Socotra. After completing all the formalities at the airport, drive to Wadi Ayhaft, where we will explore the gorge, swim in a natural pool and come into contact with the island's unusual flora and fauna for the first time (if we have time - depending on the arrival time of the aircraft in Socotra). Camping in Wadi Ayhaft.
Day 3: Monday, 16. 2. 2026
After breakfast, you will drive to Dihamri Beach, which is a true paradise for snorkelling and enjoying corals and colourful fish species, so we will spend most of the morning here. For land lovers, there will be time to climb a nearby hill and admire the view of the north coast. We then drive to the Momi karst Plateau, where we will descend into the Kilissan Canyon, discover endemic plants and animals and swim in beautiful riverbeds. After climbing back up to the plateau, we have some time to explore the surrounding area. Camping on the Momi plateau.
Day 4: Tuesday, 17. 2. 2026
After breakfast, drive to the Homhil Plateau, which is considered the botanical garden of Socotra. During a walk to the natural pools overlooking the Arabian Sea, we will learn about the most characteristic endemic plants and their adaptation to the special habitat that Socotra represents. After swimming, we hike down to Wadi Al Shiifa (1.5 hours walk) where jeeps are waiting to take us to the beach near the village of Erher for lunch. After a break in the afternoon, we drive to Cape Ras Ersel, the easternmost point of the island, where the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet. We return to Erher, where we will spend the night.
Day 5: Wednesday, 18. 2. 2026
In the morning you drive to the foot of the hill where the Hoq karst cave is located, which you have to climb about 350 metres up in 1.5 hours. The cave hides beautiful stalactite structures and a small lake, and extremely interesting archaeological remains have also been found in it. In front of the entrance to the cave there is a marvellous view of the north coast of Socotra. During the ascent and descent, we will encounter interesting plant and animal species, as well as interesting species along the north coast.
After lunch, we drive through the Wadi Defarhu and reach the Noged Plain in the south of the island. Camping on the coast by the Indian Ocean.
Day 6: Thursday, 19. 1. 2026
After breakfast, we visit the marvellous Zahek dunes and see how salt is extracted in the nearby salt pans next to the date palm plantations. We then visit the Degub Cave, where people lived a few decades ago, and then drive to the Dixam Plateau, the land of dragon trees (Dracaena sp.) and the neighbouring Firmihin plateau. There we take a short walk through the forest to a viewpoint from where we have a marvellous view of the breathtaking landscape. Camping on the edge of the dragonfly forest.
Day 7: Friday, 20. 2. 2026
After breakfast, you go on a short hike through the dragon forest, then we drive to the north-west of the island. First we visit Eriosh with its interesting and still unexplained petroglyphs, then in the village of Ghubba we get to know the local cenotes and ancient salt pans. From there we continue towards the town of Qalansiya and the nearby Detwah lagoon, where we can enjoy the beautiful scenery, explore the lagoon with its numerous water birds and sea crabs or climb the mountain above the lagoon. Camping in the Detwah lagoon.
Day 8: Saturday, 21. 2. 2026
In the morning boat trip to the beach of Schuab. With luck, we will be accompanied on the way by dolphins and many species of birds that nest or feed on marine organisms in this part of the island. Along Schuab beach there are still remnants of mangroves to which we will hike, and then we will have some time for swimming before returning. The afternoon is free to explore and swim at Detwah Lagoon. Overnight stay at Detwah Lagoon.
Day 9: Sunday, 22. 2. 2026
In the early morning (if time permits) we drive to the main town Hadiboo and visit a shop with local products, which are mainly made by women. Later drive to the airport and flight Socotra – Abu Dhabi
Day 10: Monday, 23. 2. 2026
Night flight Abu Dhabi – Istanbul – Ljubljana. Arrival is planned for the morning hours.
