December 29, 2025 - January 1, 2026

four-day trip • bus

This year, in anticipation of the New Year, we are once again heading to Serbia, where we will enjoy a wide variety of food and drinks, learn about important figures from Serbian history, explore some ethnology, visit protected natural areas, and see the city of Belgrade from a different perspective. There is something for everyone, especially the chance to discover lesser-known places with the genuine humour of a local guide and to celebrate New Year's Eve with excellent homemade food and entertainment.

VSA MESTA SO ZASEDENA!

Day 1: December 29, 2025

Departure from Slovenia via Slavonia to the northern slopes of Fruška Gora, where we will stop at the Verkat estateAfterwards, we will take a short drive to Sremski Karlovci, where we will walk through the city centre and visit the Kuglof Museum to learn how this renowned dessert is made. We will then continue to the outskirts of Sremski Karlovci for dinner and an overnight stay at Ethno village Markovi konaci.

Day 2: December 30, 2025

After breakfast, we will drive to the city on the opposite bank of the Danube and learn about the life and work of Mihajlo Pupin, a world-famous inventor who, through his fame and connections after World War I, made a decisive contribution to preserving some Slovenian territories during the new state demarcations. The route will then take us south, where we will cross the Danube again and visit the 15th-century fortress in Smederevo, which played an extremely important role in history due to its strategic location. We will stay in Smederevo for a while; after visiting the fortress, we will have lunch featuring typical fish dishes, and later visit the local Crow brewery to taste their beer.

The path will then lead us to the village of Barajevo, where we will visit a local potter who makes typical Serbian ceramics. At Minčić Pottery, we will watch the production of clay products, and, if you wish, you can try this skill yourself. We will end the day at the Sučević Hotel, where we will first have a tasting of different types of brandy, and live music will be provided during dinner. Overnight stay at the Sučević Hotel.

After the tour, we will drive to the hotel in Sremska Mitrovica, where there will be some free time to rest and prepare for New Year's Eve, which we will spend at the Ethno household "Dragon from Noćaj". There, we will enjoy homemade food, and the evening will feature live music. In a pleasant setting, we will welcome the year 2026 in the company of our hosts, the Čupić family, direct descendants of the Dragon from Noćaj, a legendary fighter in the First Serbian Uprising against the Turks in the 19th century.
